Montana is available in OpenType features such as small caps, swash characters, and more. It is also available in Latin Modern which has a large selection of weights and is an open-source font. OpenType features are available in all Optimo fonts.
As you may know, typefaces are symbolic and sometimes surprisingly political. We don't want to give the appearance that there is a political reason behind the choice of typefaces, but there is a reason. Optimo fonts are designed to be used in print and on screen. While they do not follow the same guidelines of readability and legibility, they are still usable in these environments. Montana is based on a set of fonts used by the military and construction companies during the 1950s and 1960s. The fonts were hand-crafted and were intended to be used in print. We've continued to refine the fonts for use on screen, resulting in Montana.
When you select the font for use on your website, you have control over important aspects of the typeface and its appearance. We have included a large number of additional typeface options within the family. Through the use of OpenType features, the typeface will display small caps, ligatures, swash characters, and more. We have also included supporting materials, such as multiple language support and a large assortment of Regular and Latin Modern weights.
Optimo is a commercial service. We charge on an hourly basis for custom font design for web, print, and non-web clients. Fees are based on the number of hours required to create the font. Additional hours may be billed at a rate of $20 per hour.
When your project requires more than the average number of hours to create a font, we will provide a quote for the job with a timeframe. The quote includes the type of font, the number of hours of work and the hourly rate.
